American Statistical Association (ASA), a scientific and educational society
founded in Boston in 1839, provides up-to-date, useful information about
statistics. ASA serves statisticians, quantitative scientists, and users
of statistics across a wealth of commercial and academic areas and applications.
Its offerings include scholarly journals, general interest magazines,
statistical research guides, informational brochures, membership information,
and books of interest to statisticians. The website provides some statistical
data, but charges a small fee. More important, however, are the many free
white papers that cover all aspects of statistical research. The organization’s
website is ww.amstat.org.
STATS:
Statistical Assessment Service
Site for nonpartisan, nonprofit research organization whose stated aim
is to facilitate the accurate use of scientific and social research in
public policy debate and in the media. Offers opinion articles and a Stats
blog, and is a clearinghouse for media inquiries.
